Do you know where your construction waste goes? Let’s talk trash!
Join ABC-VA Young Professionals for a behind-the-scenes tour of Industrial Disposal Services (IDS)/Broad Run Recycling in Manassas and follow the journey of construction waste after it leaves the jobsite. ♻️ Get an up-close look at a working recycling operation where 700+ tons of construction and demolition material are processed each day. See how materials are received, sorted and recycled, and learn how the waste generated on our jobsites can be diverted from landfills and put to better use.
Along the way, the IDS and Broad Run Recycling teams will give us an inside look at the role waste management plays in today’s construction industry, including recycling and diversion reporting, LEED requirements, sustainability goals and the importance of accurate waste data. From material collection at the jobsite through final diversion reporting, you’ll see a side of the construction process most of us never get to experience.
After the tour, trade trash talk for shop talk and join us for a happy hour at 2 Silos. Make new connections and unwind after a one-of-a-kind look behind the scenes of our industry. Please note: this event is for Young Professionals (40 & under).
Before We Talk Trash…
This is an active, working facility, so please come prepared! Closed-toe shoes are required for all tour participants. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own PPE, including safety glasses/goggles. Don’t have PPE? No problem – necessary safety equipment will be available on-site.
