Topics include scope and application of the OSHA Construction Standards, construction safety and health principles, and special emphasis on those areas in construction which are most hazardous. Upon course completion students will have the ability to define construction terms found in the OSHA Construction Standards, identify hazards which occur in the construction industry, locate and determine appropriate OSHA Construction Standards, policies, and procedures, and describe the use of the OSHA Construction Standards and regulations to supplement an ongoing safety and health program. ABOUT THIS COURSE Begins Monday, December 14, 2026 As of January 1, 2023, persons testing and repairing backflow prevention assemblies and backflow prevention devices shall be certified by a Commonwealth of Virginia tradesman certification program (identified by DPOR as backflow prevention device workers). This 40-hour course is designed to help participants understand backflow and recognize cross-connections, placing special emphasis on preparing individuals to test, inspect, and provide in-line maintenance of reduced pressure principle backflow prevention devices, double check valve assemblies, and pressure vacuum breakers. * This course has been approved by the Board for Contractors, Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation in accordance with the provisions of 12 VAC5-590-630. CPR, AED & FIRST AID CERTIFICATION Friday, December 18, 2026 | 8:00AM - 12:00PM ABC Virginia certifies hundreds of individuals each year in First-Aid and CPR/AED using the Health Safety Institute’s (HSI) training content. ABC-VA’s primary goal is to create confidence in its students’ abilities to handle emergency situations. Our instructors provide clear explanations of the subject matter in a relaxed environment. Instructors focus on the importance of controlling, with confidence, medical emergencies and providing life support for victims of sudden illness or injury. The certification issued to each participant is valid for two years.
