DESCRIPTION:ABOUT THIS COURSE\nBegins Tuesday\, July 28\, 2026\nThis 32-hour course is designed to take the seasoned plumber/fitter and teach them the information necessary to install medical gas and vacuum pipeline systems in human health care occupancies\, including hospitals\, office-based occupancies\, nursing homes\, and outpatient care facilities. Topics include all facets of equipment\, such as air compressors\, vacuum pumps\, valving and hangers\, and testing as well as a section on the special brazing requirements for medical gas and vacuum tubing. \nPractical training is included\, including student coupons that are sent to outside laboratories for independent examinations. Topics also include the requirements of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). NFPA 99 is the textbook. \nThis course is mandatory in over forty states prior to working on any medical gas or vacuum system. The student shall be at the journeyman level or active in an apprentice program for at least four years. \nAt the completion of the course\, there is a standardized written examination as well as a brazing practical in which students will be required to braze vertical and horizontal full-penetration joints on 1-1/2″ tubing. The brazing coupons will be tested by C.W.I. at an independent laboratory. ABC-VA’s primary goal is to create confidence in its students’ abilities to handle emergency situations. Our instructors provide clear explanations of the subject matter in a relaxed environment. Instructors focus on the importance of controlling\, with confidence\, medical emergencies and providing life support for victims of sudden illness or injury. The certification issued to each participant is valid for two years. \nLOCATION\nABC-VA Central VA Training Facility\n1600 E Parham Road\, Richmond\, VA 23228 \nCOST\nMember: $98\nNon-Member: $125\nIncludes training materials\, lunch\, and snacks. \nSUBSTITUTIONS/CANCELLATION POLICY\nSubstitutions are welcome at any time if the originally registered individual(s) can no longer attend.
