Enhance your personal and professional value by enrolling in ABC-VA’s Understanding Plans and Specs (formerly Blueprint Reading). Blueprint Reading 101 and 102 are being combined in one course that will establish the fundamental skills necessary to navigate and work with Plans and Specifications, either in the office or in the field. This course will start with an introduction to plans and work towards using the full plan set in the field of construction.

All employees in the construction industry can benefit from this course. Knowing and understanding the blueprint language is a highly marketable skill and will make anyone an invaluable resource to their company.

Learn how to use the Collaborative Pull Planning Process that has proven to yield better and more reliable schedules. No computers are used in this very “hands-on” workshop. Participants learning it by doing it.

This valuable planning and managing technique is used around the world, and it is rapidly being adopted in all types of projects from very large to very small. From the overall master planner, to the foreman in the field – these schedules are more than just wallpaper. The foremen actually help create and follow the plan.

Participants will learn how to the integrate the Master Schedule, the Phase Pull, the Look Ahead, Constraints, and the Weekly work plan. Additionally, participants will learn to monitor and measure how well the teams follow the plan through PPC tracking – altogether on the wall with sticky notes – no computer required!

This workshop is perfect for executives, project managers, superintendents and foremen.

OSHA 502 – UPDATE FOR CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY OUTREACH TRAINERS

Offered by Mid Atlantic OTI Education Center, this course will be held at ABC-VA Northern Virginia Training Facility, Host Training Organization
July 21 – 23, 2025  |  8:00AM – 4:00PM
This course is designed for Outreach Training Program trainers who have completed OSHA #500 Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry and are authorized trainers in the OSHA Outreach Training Program.  The course provides an update on OSHA Construction Standards, policies, and regulations.  Upon course completion students will have the ability to demonstrate continued professional development in their field by applying effective adult learning principles and interactive training techniques to clearly identify, define, and explain construction industry hazards and acceptable corrective measures as they continue to teach the 10- and 30-hour Construction Outreach Training Program classes.

Student Contact Hours: 18

Prerequisites:  OSHA #500 Trainers Course in OSHA Standards for the Construction Industry. Authorized Outreach Training Program trainers are required to attend this course once every four years (4) to maintain their trainer status.  Prior to registration, students must provide a copy of their current Outreach Training Program trainer card or an official transcript showing successful completion of the OSHA #500 Trainer Course in OSHA Standards for Construction from their respective OSHA Training Institute Education Center, for verification of trainer status. Please note: Copies of Course Certificates will not be accepted as proof of successful completion.
