DESCRIPTION:24-HOUR COMPETENT PERSON FALL PROTECTION TRAINING\nSeptember 17\, 18 & 19\, 2025  |  7:00AM – 4:00PM \nIn Accordance with ANSI Standard Z359.2\n(Conforms to the 24-Hour Training Requirements of the EM-385-1-1 2014 Edition) \nEM385-1-1 requires all Competent Persons who have employees who work at height\, to attend a 24-hour class. Federal enforcement of training requirements began September 1\, 2016. Section 21 is significantly different from the current OSHA Subpart M and ANSI A10.32 requirements. \nThis 24-hour training is in accordance with 29CFR 1926 and EM-385-1-1\, introducing students to the USACE EM385-1-1 Safety & Health Standards\, as well as Virginia and Federal Construction Safety Standards and Regulations covering Fall Protection. DESCRIPTION:OSHA 5400 – TRAINER COURSE IN OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH STANDARDS FOR THE MARITIME INDUSTRY\nREGISTER HERE\nOffered by Mid Atlantic OTI Education Center\, this course will be held at ABC-VA Hampton Roads Training Facility\, Host Training Organization\nMonday\, May 12 – Thursday\, May 15\, 2025  |  8:00AM – 4:00PM\nThis course is designed for individuals interested in teaching the 10- and 30-hour Maritime safety and health Outreach Training Program to their employees and other interested groups. Special emphasis is placed on those topics required in the 10- and 30-hour Outreach Training Program as well as the most hazardous in the maritime industry using OSHA Maritime Standards as a guide. Students are briefed on effective instructional approaches and use of visual aids and handouts. This course allows the student to become a trainer in the Outreach Training Program\, to conduct 10- and 30-hour maritime classes in shipyard employment\, marine terminals\, and longshoring\, and to issue cards to participants after verifying course completion. Students in OSHA #5400 Trainer Course in OSHA Standards for the Maritime Industry who wish to participate as authorized Outreach Trainer Program trainers in the OSHA Outreach Training Program must successfully prepare a presentation on an assigned OSHA maritime industry Outreach Training Program topic individually or as part of a group and successfully pass a written exam at the end of the course. \n\nUpon successful completion of this course\, participants will be able to:\n\nInstruct Maritime workers in OSHA 10 and 30 Maritime Standards hazard identification course\nDefine Maritime terms found in the OSHA Maritime Industry and determine appropriate standards\nIdentify hazards that occur in the Maritime Industry and determine appropriate standards\nLocate OSHA Maritime Safety and Health standards\, policies\, and procedures\nDescribe the use of the OSHA Maritime standards and regulations to supplement an on-going safety and health program\n\n\nStudent Contact Hours: 26 \n\nPrerequisites\nCompletion of the OSHA 5410 – Standards for the Maritime Industry  (copy of completion certificate required). and have five (5) years maritime industry safety experience. A degree in occupational safety and health from an accredited college or university\, certification a Certified Safety Professional (CSP)\, a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)\, or a Certified Marine Chemist (CMC) may be substituted for two (2) years of work related experience.
