DESCRIPTION:OSHA 5402 – MARITIME INDUSTRY TRAINER UPDATE COURSE\nREGISTER HERE\nOffered by Mid Atlantic OTI Education Center\, this course will be held at ABC-VA Hampton Roads Training Facility\, Host Training Organization\nJuly 27 – 29\, 2026  |  8:00AM – 4:00PM\n \nThis course is designed for individuals who have successfully completed OSHA course #5400 Trainer Course in OSHA Standards for the Maritime Industry and are active Outreach Training Program trainers. The course updates the OSHA Maritime standards\, policies\, and regulations. Upon course completion students will have the ability to demonstrate continued professional development in their field by applying effective adult learning principles and interactive training techniques to clearly identify\, define and explain maritime industry hazards and acceptable corrective measures as they continue to teach the 10- and 30-hour Outreach Training Program classes. \n\nCourse Includes: \n\nStudent Materials\nOSHA Maritime Standards Access\nElectronic Resources including:\n\nPowerPoint Presentation\nVideo clips\nTest Questions\nAdditional resource information\n\n\nLunch and Refreshments\n\nPrerequisites: OSHA #5400 Trainer Course in OSHA Standards for the Maritime Industry. Authorized OSHA Outreach trainers are required to attend this course once every four (4) years to maintain their trainer status. DESCRIPTION:ABOUT THIS COURSE\nBegins Tuesday\, July 28\, 2026\nThis 32-hour course is designed to take the seasoned plumber/fitter and teach them the information necessary to install medical gas and vacuum pipeline systems in human health care occupancies\, including hospitals\, office-based occupancies\, nursing homes\, and outpatient care facilities. Topics include all facets of equipment\, such as air compressors\, vacuum pumps\, valving and hangers\, and testing as well as a section on the special brazing requirements for medical gas and vacuum tubing. \nPractical training is included\, including student coupons that are sent to outside laboratories for independent examinations. Topics also include the requirements of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). NFPA 99 is the textbook. \nThis course is mandatory in over forty states prior to working on any medical gas or vacuum system. The student shall be at the journeyman level or active in an apprentice program for at least four years. \nAt the completion of the course\, there is a standardized written examination as well as a brazing practical in which students will be required to braze vertical and horizontal full-penetration joints on 1-1/2″ tubing. The brazing coupons will be tested by C.W.I. at an independent laboratory. This course follows the requirements of the American Society of Sanitary Engineering ASSE 6010 professional qualification standard for medical gas system installers. \nWHO SHOULD ATTEND?\nThis class is intended for plumbers\, med gas workers\, hospital and healthcare facilities personnel \nSCHEDULE (4-day class)\nJuly 28 – 31\, 2026\n9:00AM – 12:00PM\nOnline registration will close Tuesday\, July 21\, at 1:00PM\nPlease note: lunch is included \nINSTRUCTOR\nJeffery McBride has over 35 years of experience in the medical industry. He received certification as an ASSE 6020 Medical Gas Inspector and ASSE 6030 Medical Gas Verifier in 1996—six years before it was required by code. Since then\, he has earned additional certifications including ASSE 6010 Medical Gas Installer\, ASSE 6035 Bulk Gas Verifier\, ASSE 6040 Medical Gas Maintenance\, and ASSE 6050 Medical Gas Instructor. Jeffery is a voting member of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 99 PIP Technical Committee and the CGA-M1 Standard for Medical Gas Development Task Force\, as well as a voting member of the ASSE 6000 Technical Committee.
