DESCRIPTION:OSHA 3015 – EXCAVATION\, TRENCHING AND SOIL MECHANICS\nThis is a Chesapeake Region Safety Council course – REGISTER HERE\nApril 27 – 29\, 2026  |  8:00AM – 4:00PM\nOffered by Mid Atlantic OTI Education Center\, this course will be held at the ABC-VA Central Virginia Training Facility\, Host Training Organization\n \nThis course covers the OSHA Excavation Standard and safety and health aspects of excavation and trenching.  Course topics include practical soil mechanics and its relationship to the stability of shored and unshored slopes and walls of excavations\, introduction of various types of shoring (wood timbers and hydraulic)\, soil classification\, and use of protective systems.  Testing methods are demonstrated and students participate in workshops in the use of instruments such as penetrometers\, torvane shears\, and engineering rods.  Upon course completion students will have the ability to assess their employer’s compliance with the OSHA Excavation Standard\, utilize soil testing methods to classify soil types\, determine protective systems for excavation operations\, and training requirements. \nOSHA 3015 and the EXCAVATION\, TRENCHING & SOIL MECHANICS TRAINER Course Combined Presented by the Chesapeake Region Safety Council  is recommended for inspectors\, auditors\, safety and health professionals and those personnel responsible for writing\, auditing\, or training employees with an active role in trenching and excavations. In fact\, hundreds of deaths and thousands of burn injuries occur each year due to shock\, electrocution\, arc flash\, and arc blast — and most could be prevented through compliance with NFPA 70E: Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace®. Originally developed at OSHA’s request\, NFPA 70E responds to the latest information about the effects of arc flash\, arc blast\, and direct current (dc) hazards\, and recent developments in electrical design and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). \nElectrical equipment and electrical safety devices are constantly being changed and improved\, hence why your electrical safety program must address those changes.
