
Excellence in Construction (EIC) Awards
Presented by ABC Virginia Central Virginia & Hampton Roads Regions

The Excellence in Construction Awards (EIC) recognize and celebrate outstanding projects built by Central Virginia and Hampton Roads ABC members annually. The awards competition serves to raise the level of construction standards throughout the industry by recognizing the workmanship of those who contribute and by showcasing the results of their dedication. Teamwork and cooperation between general contractors, specialty contractors and material suppliers are prerequisites for building excellence into any construction project.
We also strive to recognize our members achievements and dedicated to the industry. Members can be nominated for Outstanding Employee of the Year, Apprentice of the Year and Craft Instructor of the year.
CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS
• $250 entry fee required with each entry in each category
• Eligible projects must have a completion rate of 95% between 6/1/2021 - 5/31/2022
• Any project on which there was a work-related fatality or serious injury is not eligible

OUTSTANDING EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR
• $75 entry fee required for each nominee
• Must have experience in their trade/field for a full year from 6/1/2021 - 5/31/2022
• Previously awarded employees are ineligible for 5 years since last awarded

ABC-VA APPRENTICE OF THE YEAR
• $75 entry fee required for each nominee
• Must currently be enrolled in an NCCER/ABC-VA Accredited Training Education Facility (ATEF), Accredited Training Unit (ATU) or Training Unit (TU)
• Eligible nominees must attend 90% or better of scheduled classes and work days
• Must have GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Self-nominations or prohibited; past winners not eligible

ABC-VA CRAFT INSTRUCTOR OF THE YEAR
• Currently teach a construction trade at an NCCER/ABC-VA Accredited Training Education Facility (ATEF), Accredited Training Unit (ATU) or Training Unit (TU)
• Be an NCCER-certified instructor with verification
• Possess a minimum of three (3) continuous years of experience teaching a construction trade
(or equivalent instructor experience)
• Self-nominations are prohibited; past winners not eligible
