Preventing and Minimizing Conflict in the Workplace

Conflict between coworkers or between staff and management is toxic. Leaning enhanced communications and conflict management skills is critical to maximize productivity, retain good employees, and meet your business goals. This session will help you identify key conflicts and what drives them from a communications standpoint and how to prevent, reduce, and mediate conflict for new opportunities and solutions. Be prepared for opportunities to role play and develop effective critiquing skills which you can use in your organization.

- Gain an enhanced ability to understand and attend to co-worker needs and feelings

Susan Long-Molnar is a lifelong professional communicator who uses over 35 years of experience assisting business owners and their employees to communicate effectively so they exceed their business goals. After graduating from Eastern Kentucky University with a BA in Theatre Arts/Communications and a minor in English, she began a teaching career, moving in 1976 to Virginia Beach to teach at Princess Anne High School. Ten years later, her first business, an advertising and PR firm, grew to a point she needed to leave teaching. After five years of entrepreneurship, she began an 11-year corporate jaunt in communications management, first at Sentara, followed by Cox Communications, and then USAA. In 2002, that entrepreneur spirit resurfaces. Managing Communications Consulting was founded with a new business model and a lot more ability to serve the Hampton Roads business community!
She has presented or provided training at such organizations as the national Commercial Real Estate Women’s Association and Virginia Volunteerism Conference. Susan also provides customized training for companies and organizations and hosts many local workshops on some of her favorite topics: internal communications, leadership communications, social media, generational and gender communications, and customer service.
Susan focuses on serving to support the region in education/workforce development. Along with her commercial clients, she manages the development and marketing for STARBASE Victory, Inc. a STEM education program in partnership with Portsmouth Public Schools.
