ABC Virginia’s Management Education program is presenting an interactive panel comprised of leading General Superintendents and construction Leaders from the region on the key success factors of a Professional Superintendent. Beyond the construction knowledge required to be a Superintendent, one’s area of expertise are the tangible and intangible qualities which differentiate a great Superintendent from all others. What are the key characteristics, attributes, methods, and interpersonal relationship skills that a seasoned General Superintendent looks for when they need their most challenging job completed? Why do some Superintendents get selected for the next high-profile job, while others may not? Do clients offer your company more projects because they want a certain Superintendent from your firm and why? Was your firm passed on a new project because of your Superintendent’s performance?

ABC recognizes the changing dynamics of Superintendents in today’s workforce and the need to provide 1st person perspectives from leaders in the industry on the differentiators, hiring considerations, and training needs of our workforce. The panelists will offer their perspectives and wisdom about their observed changes, what personal qualities make a difference, character and leadership, and the practical experience quotient that is often overlooked.

Conducted by a Construction Executive, and three General Superintendents, the panel will offer insight into the Superintendent of the past, the present, and what skills will be needed in the future.
